Bipasha Basu was born on May 5, 1979 in Delhi, Mumbai, India. later moving with her family to Kolkata. She is the second of three sisters. The other two are Bidisha and Vijayeta.
She is an Indian actress and model who appears in Bollywood films. She did her schooling at Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir and her college years were spent at Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society College. In her spare time, she took up some modeling assignments. Actually she wanted to be a doctor.
From modeling to films is a common step in today’s Indian movie industry. Bipasha’s debut movie was Ajnabee (2001). The movie
was fairly successful and she was quickly signed for more movies.
She came into the limelight when she won the famous Ford Supermodels
Contest at the age of 17. She also won the Tulips Miss Super Vivacious in the same contest. Bipasha has cat walked for all leading Indian designers, besides featuring in advertisements, she did the famous video Tu Meri Mehbooba for Sonu Nigam’s album, Kismat
Amongst the first few to give the gorgeous lass due credit was Vikram Bhatt, who signed her on for his next venture `Raaz’. The mystique and deep aura of sensuality that Bipasha Basu exudes was exactly what the dynamic director was looking for, in the heroine of the immensely thrilling and hair raising film Raaz. With Jism, Bipasha changed the portrayal of the traditional “Indian’ actress entirely. A negative role with bold shades and then some more, Bipasha set the trend for a lot like her generation to come.Bipasha Basu attracted a lot of attention with her roles in Raaz (2002) and Jism (2003). Her performance was excellent in this film. In 2003 Jism came which was hit. In this she played a married woman. Bipasha deserves every bit of her success, and will definitely prove to be a strong competitor in the race to claim the top spot.
